Jaipur, 12th March, 2019: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company through its skill development endeavour, Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), strives to bridge the skill-gap in the Indian power sector and allied industries while training youth with employable skills. Recognizing this effort, TPSDI was conferred with the ‘Excellence in Training & Development Award’ — an Overall Award for Best Results Based Training at the 6th Global Training & Development Leadership Awards held on 16th Feb 2019 at Taj Lands End. The award is instituted by the Human Resources Development Management Committee of the World HRD Congress. Mr. Jayvadan Mistry, Chief–TPSDI, accepted the award on behalf of the company from the chief guest, Mr. Alistair Schofield, Director MyBrain International Limited.
The award recognises the impact of TPSDI’s training programs that enhance the skills of the trainees and thus their employability. Since its establishment, TPSDI has trained more than 43,000 people. TPSDI’s robust training programs have resulted in skill gain and the ISO:29990 certified Institute has a rigorous process that tracks the effectiveness of its training by not only assessing the skills and knowledge gained by the trainees but also by monitoring them when they secure employment. TPSDI currently provides placements to 75% of the eligible youth trained at the Institute.
Speaking on receiving the award, Mr. Mistry said, “This award is a recognition the deep and positive impact that TPSDI is having on the lives of its trainees. We are proud to have made a difference to the lives of people and the industry by empowering trainees with relevant skills. The industry has confidence in our training, and this can be seen in our strong placement numbers. TPSDI thanks the jury for recognising our impact. We will continue to raise the standard of our training and enhance the quality of the skills entering in the industry.”

TPSDI, currently has five training centres across India leveraging the facilities of Tata Power: Shahad – Mumbai; Trombay – Mumbai; Maithon – Dhanbad, Mundra – Kutch, Gujarat and Jojobera – Jamshedpur. The Institute conducts several skill development programs to equip youth with relevant employable skills. Apart from Tata Power, TPSDI also trains engineers and technicians from other organizations and offers courses for engineering college students, enabling them to acquire skills that bridge the gap between academics and industry. the facilities of Tata Power: Shahad – Mumbai; Trombay – Mumbai; Maithon – Dhanbad, Mundra – Kutch, Gujarat and Jojobera – Jamshedpur.
