Jaipur, April 05, 2019: SBI Life Insurance, one of the leading private life insurers in the country, extended support to 100 cancer patients diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia(CML) by providing free of cost treatment & hospitalization through the ‘Freedom From Cancer Project’ initiated by Bhagwan Mahavir Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in the city.
The initiative adopted under the company’s CSR program is designed to provide holistic care for patients wherein SBI Life would bear the cost of consultation, routine blood test and monitoring of related test know as BCR ABI test. Further the company will also ensure a year’s supply of Imatinib medication for the identified cancer patients.
Mr. Ravi Krishnamurthy, President-Zone 1, SBI Life Insurance handed over the cheque to Mr. Navaratan Kathori, Chairman, Bhagwan Mahavir Cancer Hopsital in presence of Mr. Vimal Chand Surana, Managing Trustee, Major General S.C. Pareek, Executive Director, Bhagvan Mahavir Cancer Hospital, Dr. Lalit Mohan Sharma, Senior Consultant, Medical Oncology Department along with Mr. Aseem Mishra, Regional Director – Jaipur Region, SBI Life Insurance, Mr. Yajuvendra Singh, AVP-HR, SBI Life Insurance and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ravi Krishnamurthy, President-Zone 1, SBI Life Insurance said, “Cancer is one of the most deadly diseases in the world, unfortunately the instances of cancer has been rising in India too. While advancement in medical research has made cancer treatable, the rising cost makes the treatment out of reach for most people, making it stressful for patients and their families. As a responsible corporate SBI Life strives to help the neediest sections of the society. Our support is aimed at reducing the financial burden that come along with cancer and hope to bring about a meaningful difference to the lives of individuals and their families in this fight against cancer.”
Bhagwan Mahavir Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Jaipur presently caters to around 22,000 old and new cancer patients annually, and over 1,00,000 patients have been treated till date.
